Bleiberg Entertainment has picked up international rights to BMP Films' biopic Pedro written by the Oscar nominated Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.

Bleiberg is talking to buyers in Berlin about Nick Oceano's story on the life of Pedro Zamora, the young AIDS campaigner who dedicated his life to raise awareness about his condition before he died in 1994 aged 22.

Zamora shot to fame after he appeared on MTV's The Real World reality TV show. BMP Films produced the picture in association with MTV.

Quinceanera's Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland produced Pedro, which stars Alex Loynaz in the title role alongside Justina Machado and Hale Appleman.

Pedro premiered at Toronto last autumn and is screening at EFM. Bleiberg's senior vice president of worldwide sales Roman Kopelevich and senior vice president of operations Shannon Banal negotiated the deal with BMP COO Gil Goldschein and senior vice president of business and legal affairs David Berson.
