Strand Releasing has acquired all North American rights to Nancy Kissam’s Slamdance romantic comedy Drool starring Laura Harring.

Harring plays a woman who accidentally kills her abusive husband and falls for her female neighbour on a road trip to dispose of the body. Jill Marie Jones also stars.

John Portnoy, Nick Thurlow and Todd Williams of Upload Films produced in conjunction with Instinctive Film. Instictive’s Darryn Welch and Chris Ouwinga served as executive producers along with Slamdance’s Peter Baxter and Chad Marting and Nils Larsen of Elements Entertainment. Strand’s Jon Gerrans negotiated the deal with Todd Williams of Upload Films.

The distributor recently picked up domestic rights to Jay DiPietro’s romance Peter And Vandy, which Ron Gell’s G-Machine is selling here to international buyers. The film premiered in Sundance and stars Jason Ritter and Jess Weixler.

Dipietro produced with Peter Sterling of Cook Street Productions and Austin Stark, Benji Kohn and Bingo Gubelmann of Paper Street Films.
Gerrans brokered the deal with Endeavor Independent’s Liesl Copland on behalf of the film-makers in Cannes.
