Strand Releasing has picked up domestic theatrical and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group (SPWAG) has taken domestic home entertainment rights to Anthony Hopkins' psychological thriller Slipstream.

Hopkins recently received a special directing and acting prize at the Locarno International Film Festival for Slipstream, in which he plays a screenwriter who can no longer differentiate between fantasy and reality as his characters begin to appear in real life.

John Turturro, Christian Slater, Stella Arroyave, Michael Clarke Duncan, Fionnula Flanagan, Gavin Grazer, and Jeffrey Tambor are among the ensemble cast. Arroyave and Robert Katz produced.

Strand plans to release the film on Oct 26. 'We are thrilled to be partnered with SPWAG on yet another project,' Strand co-president Marcus Hu said. 'Slipstream is a visionary film with such a high calibre of talent involved; we are excited about embarking on this journey together.'

'We knew after seeing the film at the Sundance Film Festival that this was exactly the type of captivating and innovative film we were looking to acquire and distribute,' SPWAG's executive director of acquisitions Scott Shooman said.

'We think this film has great potential due to Hopkins' visionary writing and directing as well as an amazing cast.'

Strand and SPWAG negotiated the deal with CAA.
