Overture Films acquired US rights to Big Beach and Back Lot Pictures' Sundance entry Sunshine Cleaning at the weekend, one month after the festival ended.

The approximately $2m deal is Overture's second pick-up from Sundance following Henry Poole Is Here and ended more than a month of negotiations between sales agent Cinetic Media and a host of distributors.

Amy Adams and Emily Blunt star in the family drama as siblings who start a crime scene cleaning business. Alan Arkin, Steve Zahn, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Clifton Collins Jr and Jason Spevack also star.

Christine Jeffs directed from a screenplay by Megan Holley. Little Miss Sunshine producers Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf and that film's executive producer Jeb Brody served as producers on Sunshine Cleaning alongside Glenn Williamson.

Overture plans a late 2008 release. 'Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are among today's finest actresses,' the company's CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett said. 'Everyone at Overture is excited about putting the full strength of our organisation behind this wonderful film.'
