Ziad Doueiri’s The Attack wins top prize, A Hijacking shares Jury Prize and scoops Best Actor for Soren Malling.
Ziad Doueiri’s The Attack has won the Marrakech Film Festival’s (Nov 30 – Dec 8) Golden Star Award.
Ali Suliman and Karim Saleh star in the Lebanese-French-Belgian production about an Arab surgeon living in Tel Aviv who discovers a dark secret about his wife in the aftermath of a suicide bombing.
Vahid Vakilifar’s Taboor and Tobias Linholm’s A Hijacking shared the festival’s Jury Prize while Best Actress went to Elina Reinold for her performance in Toomas Hussar’s Mushrooming and Best Actor was won by Soren Malling for A Hijacking.
John Boorman presided over the feature jury, which comprised Gemma Arterton, Marie Josee Croze, Pierfrancesco Favino, James Gray, Jeon Soo-il, Lambert Wilson, Jillali Ferhati and Sharmila Tagore
The short film prize went to Mejor…Une Vie Meilleure by Tarik Leihemdi.
