Ron Gell’s The G-Machine has bulked up its Cannes slate with Jay DiPietro’s Sundance premiere Peter & Vandy and Sean Penn’s documentary Witch Hunt.
Peter & Vandy played in US Dramatic Competition in Utah and charts the relationship between a young Manhattan couple told through a shifting timeline. Jason Ritter and Jess Weixler star and the film will screen in the market on May 13.
Gell will show buyers a promo reel of Witch Hunt, which recently premiered on news website MSNBC with more than 3.6m unique viewers.
Don Hardy Jr and Dana Nachman produced the film, a sharp indictment of the US justice system that chronicles dozens of wrongful imprisonment cases in Bakersfield, California during the tenure of a severe district attorney who remains in office today.
The G-Machine continues to enjoy a close collaboration with New Films International as its worldwide distribution and marketing partner.
