DreamWorks' TheRing 2 grossed anestimated $17.4m in 36 territories in 3,079 venues through UIP over theweekend, distinguished by four number one debuts in major markets.

The horrorsequel opened top in the UK on an estimated $3.3m ($3.9m including previews)from 419 sites, roughly 15% ahead of 2002's The Ring.

In Spain TheRing Two opened top on$2.9m from 320 venues, approximately 103% ahead of the original, while a numberone debut in Germany produced $2.9m from 445 sites, which was approximately 109%ahead of The Ring.

France was alsoexpected to produce a number one result on $2.2m from 403 venues over fivedays, roughly 55% ahead of The Ring.

UIP began itsrollout in Asia, where the picture grossed $450,000 from 65 sites, while inLatin America it opened top in Argentina on $220,000 from 48.

In second weekend holdovers The Ring Two added $685,000 from 169 in Australia for $2.9m and$455,000 from 200 in Brazil for $1.5m, while Mexico raised its total afterthree weekends to $5.5m.

The picture hasamassed $33.4m from its international run to date.
