Other selections include Werner Herzog’s journey to death row, Mark Cousins’ 15-hour opus and Berlinger & Sinofsky’s follow-up on the West Memphis Three.

Toronto’s high-profile documentary world premieres are set to include Nick Broomfield’s journey to Alaska to discover the real Sarah Palin – Sarah Palin – You Betcha!, plus Werner Herzog’s look at a death row homicide case; Morgan Spurlock’s portrait of Comic-Con; and Oscar winner Alex Gibney’s hockey film The Last Gladiators.

Also ,Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky follows their two previous acclaimed documentaries about the ‘West Memphis Three.’ And UK director Mark Cousins presents the epic 15-hour The Story of Film, which was filmed on four continents over six years.

“I’m thrilled at the large number of veteran filmmakers who have brought us new works this year,” said Thom Powers, TIFF‟s lead programmer for documentaries. “The line-up contains a wide range of memorable characters – crusaders, convicts, artists, athletes, nude dancers, comic book fans, dog lovers and more. Not to mention the epic 15-hour Story of Film. These documentaries will have audiences discussing and debating for months to come.”

Other documentaries in the programme include the previously reported From The Sky Down (Opening Night Gala) and Pearl Jam Twenty (Special Presentation). More documentaries will be announced in coming weeks.
