Lionsgate has picked up North American rights from Darclight Films to the horror anthology Trapped Ashes.

The four-part tale tells of seven strangers on a Hollywood studio tour stranded inside a House of Horrors exhibit. The protagonists are forced to share their most terrifying personal stories in order to get out alive.

Joe Dante, Ken Russell, Sean Cunningham, Monte Hellman, and John Gaeta directed. Dennis Bartok wrote the screenplay and produced with Yoshifumi Hosoya and Yuko Yoshikawa.

'Lionsgate has a great tradition in the horror genre, and we believe that with their great marketing staff they will make this film very successful in the US,' Darclight managing director Gary Hamilton said.

Lionsgate vice president of acquisitions Eda Kowan negotiated the deal with Darclight's president of international sales Jonathan Deckter.

Trapped Ashes is a collaboration between Independent Film Fund, CINV, Tokyo Broadcasting, System International, Asmik Ace Entertainment, Elephant Studio and Five Windows Production.

Darclight Films previously handled sales on the Australian horror tale Wolf Creek , and is selling the vampire saga Perfect Creature, which Fox will release in North America, as well as the upcoming Storm Warning recently acquired by Dimension Films.
