US micro-distributorVitagraph Films will release veteran editor Curtiss Clayton's directorial debutRick, starring Bill Pullman andAgnes Bruckner, in New York on Oct 1 and Los Angeles on Oct 8.

Based on the operaRigoletto, the satirical story centres on a middle-aged corporate careerist wholoses sight of his humanity.

Aaron Stanford, Sandra Oh,Dylan Baker, Paz de la Huerta and Emmanuelle Chriqui also star and LemonySnicket alter ego Daniel Handler wrote the screenplay.

Rick was produced by Ruth Charny, Jim Czarnecki, andContentFilm's Sofia Sondervan, with Edward R Pressman and John Schmidt ofContentFilm serving as executive producers.

The picture will roll out toChicago and Boston by early November, followed by the rest of the countrythroughout late autumn.

Clayton's editing creditsinclude Drugstore Cowboy, My Own Private Idaho, To Die For and Buffalo 66.
