Warp X and Birds Eye View are working together on a new feature film development initiative, Last Laugh: Women Create Comedy.

The programme will champion female comedy talent working in the UK and bring female-led comedy features to the big screen.

Skillset is supporting the scheme through its Skillset Film Skills Fund.

Warp X and BEV will select up to 15 women to take part in Last Laugh (applications are open through Sept 26). A retreat in October will include industry experts and participants will then have the chance to pitch film ideas to Warp X for its low-budget feature development slate.

Several projects will be developed for production from 2010.
