Barry Levinson will receive the Writers Guild Of America, West’s (WGAW) 2010 lifetime achievement Laurel Award for Screen.

Levinson wrote …And Justice for All, Diner and Avalon and won the best directing Oscar in 1989 for Rain Man. He also directed Bugsy and Good Morning Vietnam.

“A rare triple threat in the industry – writer, director, and producer – Barry has been the creative force behind many of this era’s defining films,” WGAW president John Wells said.

The film-maker will collect the award at the 2010 WGAW ceremony in Los Angeles on February 20.
