James Cameron will receive the Academy Of Science Fiction, Fantasy And Horror Films’ Visionary Award for Avatar at this year’s 36th Annual Saturn Awards.
“James Cameron has always maintained a clear vision of his creations on screen,” president Robert Holguin said. “With Avatar he has raised the bar by successfully creating a masterpiece beyond anything ever seen on screen.”
Lauren Shuler-Donner will receive the Producers Showcase Award for her film work, a diverse roster that includes the X-Men franchise, Free Willy, Constantine and Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant.
“She is a driving force in filmed entertainment and a prominent leader in the industry and has earned this special award recognition”, Holguin said.
The filmmaking team of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will receive the George Pal Memorial Award. Their writing credits include Mission Impossible III, Transformers, Star Trek and Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.
