New independent distributor Diffusion Pictures has acquired all UK and Ireland rights to Joachim Trier's Reprise.

Reprise stars Espen Klouman Hoiner and Anders Danielsen Lie in the story of two twenty -something friends who are struggling to write novels. It picked up awards at festivals including Toronto and Karlovy Vary and is the Norwegian submission for foreign-language Oscar consideration.

Nick Crossley of Diffusion said: 'We are thrilled by the acquisition of this wonderfully directed debut. This confirms Diffusion's commitment to

backing exciting, refreshing, new talent.'

The deal was struck with Nordisk Film International Sales.

The film is Diffusion's third acquisition after Andrew Bujalski's Funny Ha Ha and Mutual Appreciation, which will be released in March and April, respectively.

Diffusion said it plans five to six theatrical releases per year, in addition to starting a separate production fund to executive produce projects.
