Three weeks before its release of The Disney Channel adaptation High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures UK has announced the film has recorded the biggest advance bookings for a film in the UK.

As of October 1 cinemas across the UK have taken bookings valued at more than £500,000 ($889,740). The UK's largest chain Odeon Cinemas has reported advance bookings of £245,205 ($436,337), beating the record set by Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire of £227,000 ($403,942) by the same stage.

'This is a phenomenal and record breaking start for High School Musical 3,' Rupert Gavin, CEO of Odeon and UCI Cinema Group, said. 'Our cinemas have been inundated with calls to pre-book tickets for what could be the year's biggest kids and teen audience movie.

'With schools breaking up for half-term just as High School Musical 3 opens, we at Odeon are bracing ourselves for a huge first week run.'

Stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu and the UK's Jemma McKenzie-Brown will attend the UK premiere on October 7. The film opens wide throughout the UK on October 22.
