Barbara leads Screen critics jury for Berlin 2012

Screen reveals the final results of our critics poll at the 2012 Berlinale.

Christian Petzold’s Barbara, sold by The Match Factory, has an average score of 3.3. The film won the Silver Bear for Best Director. The story is set in 1980 in East Germany, when two doctors begin a complicated relationship.

Following with an average of 3 was Golden Bear winner Caesar Must Die by the Taviani brothers.

Miguel Gomes’ Tabu followed at 2.9.

The lowest-ranked film in competition was Antonio Chavarrias’s Spanish thriller Childish Games.

This year’s critics invited to join the jury were Scott Foundas from the US; Derek Malcolm, Nick James and Tim Robey from the UK; Jose Carlos Avellar from Brazil; Bo Green Jensen from Denmark; and Jan Schulz-Ojala from Germany. The jury also includes a score from Screen’s review of each film.
