The jury selects best debut film from across Cannes official selection.

Korean filmmaker Bong Joon Ho will be the president of this year’s Camera d’Or jury at the Cannes Film Festival, organisers announced Thursday. The director-screenwriter will preside over the jury, which selects the best first film from across all the films presented in official selection in Cannes. The prize will be awarded at the closing ceremony on May 22.

Bong’s The Host ran in Directors Fortnight in 2006 and he was in official selection with the triptych Tokyo! in 2008. In 2009, Mother was selected for the Un Certain Regard sidebar.

Other recent Camera d’Or jury presidents have included Gael Garcia Bernal, Roschdy Zem, Bruno Dumont, Pavel Lounguine and the Dardenne brothers, Jean-Pierre and Luc.
