Magnet Relesing takes on US rights to Warlords

Magnolia Pictures’ genre arm Magnet Releasing has bought North American rights to Peter Ho-Sun Chan’s historical war epic Warlords. It stars Jet Li, Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro.

The winner of eight Hong Kong Film Awards takes place against the background of the Taiping Rebellion of the 1860s as three bandits become ensnared in a web of deceit.

The deal was negotiated by Magnolia’s senior vice president Tom Quinn and head of business affairs Chris Matson, with Andre Morgan and Ricky Tse from Media Asia.

Magnolia plans to release the film late this summer.
