Myriad brings 'East Side Sushi' to Cannes
EXCLUSIVE: Feel-good dramedy stars Diana Elizabeth Torres as a chef who dreams of working in a sushi bar.
Myriad Pictures is in Cannes with worldwide rights excluding Latin America, South Korea and airlines for the feel-good foodie dramedy East Side Sushi.
Anthony Lucero wrote and directed the film that stars Diana Elizabeth Torres as a Mexican-American chef who dreams of working behind the male-dominated sushi bar at a Japanese restaurant. Julie Rubio and Lucero produced.
Myriad brokered the deal with Samuel Goldwyn Films, who released the film theatrically in September last year.
“We are very pleased to be selling this delightful comedy that pokes at race and gender stereotypes,” said Myriad president Kirk D’Amico. “I wanted to call it Juana’s Dreams Of Sushi but we will stick with the current title.”
