Andrew Herwitz has further bulked up his Toronto slate at the Film Sales Company by picking up worldwide sales rights to Carl Bessai’s drama Cole.

Richard De Klerk and Kandyse McClure star in Titlecard Pictures and Rampart Films’ coming of age story about a young man from a small town who tries to reconcile personal ambition and forbidden love with the expectations of a traditional upbringing.

“Frankly, I was surprised by how much my entire staff and I responded to the film, given that the team that brought the film to fruition is relatively unknown, until now,” Herwitz said.

“It is a very fresh take on what misleadlingly may seem like familiar territory. We were all particularly taken by the realistic portrayal of what it means to live in a small town in North America in the 21st century”.

Titlecard’s Dylan Thomas Collingwood and Kimani Ray Smith produced along with Jason James while Irene Nelson served as executive producer.

Herwitz’s Toronto slate include My Dog Tulip and Joan Baez: How Sweet The Sound.
