Leading Bollywood studio Yash Raj Films has signed licensing deals with two VoD-enabled web-sites - www.watchindia.tv and www.tinselvision.com - which will offer digital downloads of its back catalogue and more recent films.

Viewers outside of India will be able to download the movies and watch them once for a nominal fee. There are also plans to make the films available on a download-to-own basis. www.tinselvision.com primarily caters to the US audience.

Films on offer include older Bollywood blockbusters such as Kabhi Kabhie, Kaala Patthar and Chandni, along with a mix of recent Yash Raj hits such as Hum Tum, Veer-Zaara, Bunty Aur Babli, Dhoom and Dhoom 2.

New titles will be available on these platforms three months after their theatrical release. Pay-per-view prices range from $4.99 (for the classics) to $7.99 (for the most recent releases), in comparison to US average movie ticket prices of around $10.

Yash Raj plans to extend the service to India and has entered into an agreement with one of the country's largest internet service providers, VSNL. A select bouquet of movies will be streamed to user's computers via VSNL's broadband portal www.tataindicombroadband.in in a pay-per-view format.
