The Berlin-based company is launching a London office and is gearing up to announce a slate of British films in 2012.

Former Creative Media Management (CMM) agent Paul Usher will act as UK representative and producer as Instinctive looks to develop co-production ties and begin to assemble a slate prior to next month’s EFM in Berlin.

The development follows the launch in 2011 of US distribution arm Interactor Media and last week’s news that Instinctive had hired Justin Kerrigan to direct its first UK production Urban Hymn, which is set to commence shooting in Bristol and Cardiff in May.

“2011 was a rollercoaster year for us,” Instinctive CEO Darryn Welch [pictured] said. “Our plan for 2012 is to forge strong international co-production ties and to have greater management over sales, marketing and distribution for the films we develop and produce.”

Instinctive’s latest release The Divide opened in US theatres last week.
