Los Angeles-based Lightning Entertainment has added Christopher Rowley's female road movie Bonneville starring Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Joan Allen to its Cannes slate.

The film premiered at Toronto last year and follows the exploits of a disillusioned woman who enlists two friends and embarks upon a trip across the Great American West. Tom Skerritt also stars.

Daniel Davis wrote the screenplay and Robert May and John Kilker produced, with Bob Brown and R Michael Bergeron serving as executive producers.

Guardian, co-president Rich Goldberg and senior vice president of acquisitions Joseph Dickstein negotiated the deal with Brown and May. Cinetic Media holds domestic rights.

Lightning's Cannes line-up features the coming-of-age comedy Hey Hey, It's Esther Blueburger, teen comedy The Cougar Club, Australian hit Kenny, sci-fi title The Dark Hour, horror-thriller Unrest, and the romance West.
