Santa Monica-based sales and distribution company Lightning Entertainment will introduce Jada Pinkett Smith's directorial debut feature The Human Contract to buyers at EFM next week.

The Human Contract stars Jason Clarke and Paz Vega in the tale of a repressed advertising executive who embarks on a passionate affair that forces him to confront harsh truths about his past.

Pinkett Smith, Ted Danson, Joanna Cassidy and Idris Elba also star in the project, which is currently in post-production and scheduled for delivery in May.

Lightning co-president Richard Guardian will show footage in Berlin and said the screenplay was 'the first that I've read in a long time that addresses adult issues of human relationships and sexuality in a serious and thought-provoking manner.'

Guardian, fellow Lightning co-president Rich Golberg and corporate counsel Megan Holstein negotiated the acquisition of international rights with Andrew Hurwitz and Alan Sacks of Schreck Rose Dapello Adams & Hurwitz on behalf of Tycoon Entertainment.

Overbrook Entertainment's Miguel Melendez and Tycoon Entertainment's Mike Jackson produced and Will Smith, James Lassiter, David Grasso and David Dinenberg served as executive producers.

Tycoon Entertainment financed the project and ICM, which represents Pinkett Smith and Elba, introduced the project to Lightning, arranged the financing and is handling North American rights.
