Restructure of London-based office follows transfer to Comcast majority ownership; Peter Smith steps down in early March.

NBC Universal has restructured its international team, with appointments including new president Jeff Shell, in a bit to implement a “more collaborative structure to drive accelerated International growth.”

Shell assumes the role of president after previously working as president of Comcast Programming Group and working as chairman of NBCUI since November.

Former NBCUI’s president Peter Smith stepped down from the company in early March.

Under the shakeup, Kevin MacLellan has assumed the role of president, International Television reporting to Jeff Shell, to oversee the television business as a whole, including sales, networks, and production.

Belinda Menendez assumes the realigned role of president, International TV Distribution & Universal Networks International, relocating from LA to London and reporting to Kevin MacLellan and Rick Finkelstein.

Rowan Conn becomes Chief Financial Officer for NBC Universal International, reporting to Jeff Shell and Lynn Calpeter.

Roma Khanna, formerly president, Universal Networks International & Digital Initiatives, has left the company, while the leadership of the international film group remains unchanged, headed by David Kosse as president, International, Universal Pictures, and with Eddie Cunningham as president, UPIE, overseeing international home entertainment.

Jeff Shell commented: “I believe that the newly appointed executives, along with David Kosse, Eddie Cunningham, Michael Edelstein and the other leaders make up one of the strongest leadership teams I have been part of. I am very optimistic about NBC Universal’s continued expansion into the international market, where I believe there are many opportunities. Our structure and talent position us strongly for significant future growth.”
