Georg Miros, the former head of marketing and sales at Kinowelt Filmverleih, has joined forces with local distributor Eduard Barnsteiner to launch distribution and production outfit Projektor Filmverleih und Filmproduktion.

Speaking exclusively to ScreenDaily at this week’s Hof Film Days, Miros announced that Projektor’s first title will be Carolin Otto’s documentary Der Weisse Rabe - Max Mannheimer, a portrait of one of the last survivors of the concentration camps in Auschwitz and Dachau.  It will be released in January.

Miros said the company will also be interested in handling foreign titles but initially will focus on German films, and will also be open features, 3D projects and special content.

He added that the company expects to release around five films a year and will not exceed ten.

Barnsteiner’s other distribution company barnsteiner-film will handle the booking and billing for Projektor’s releases.

Miros will focus on the company full time and has left his role as head of sales and marketing at film community Moviepilot, which he joined in March.
