E1 Entertainment Canada has picked up Atom Egoyan’s Chloe in advance of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Canadian distributor negotiated the deal with France’s StudioCanal, which fully financed the picture, and Ivan Reitman’s and Tom Pollock’s Montecito Picture Company, which produced it.

The thriller features Julianne Moore as a woman who suspects her husband (Liam Neeson) is unfaithful and decides to hire a young temptress (Amanda Seyfried) to entrap him. The story is based on Anne Fontaine’s 2003 French film, Nathalie, of which StudioCanal is the original copyright holder. StudioCanal controls world rights on Chloe.

E1 plans to release the film at Christmas. StudioCanal and Montecito continue to negotiate a US distribution deal. Chloe will open the San Sebastian festival.
