Peace Arch Entertainment is setting up a US theatrical distribution division to be headed by the Canadian company's president of US distribution Mark Balsam.

First release for the new Peace Arch Releasing division will be Tom DiCillo's Sundance premiere Delirious, which will open in New York City on Aug 8.

The comedy - which won the best director and best screenplay awards at the San Sebastian festival -- stars Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt, Alison Lohman, Gina Gershon and Elvis Costello.

Commenting on the entry into US distribution, Peach Arch Entertainment Group president John Flock said: 'With our robust slate of new feature film and television productions, our recent purchase of one of the largest independent feature film libraries in the world and our pending acquisition of leading US DVD distributor Trinity Home Entertainment, adding a US theatrical releasing component is the next step in establishing Peace Arch as one of a very few independent, vertically integrated production, financing and distribution companies in North America.'

Peace Arch recently completed principal photography in South Africa on The Deal, with William H Macy and Meg Ryan. The company also produces TV mini-series The Tudors.
