Precious: Based On The Novel ‘Push’ By Sapphire will receive the Producers Guild Of America’s (PGA) 2010 Stanley Kramer Award.

The film’s producers will collect the honour at the 21st Annual PGA Awards ceremony in Hollywood on January 24, 2010.

The Stanley Kramer Award, named after the iconic film-maker, was established in 2002 to honour work that “illuminates provocative social issues in an accessible and elevating fashion.”

Gabourey Sidibe and Mo’Nique star in Lee Daniel’s torrid tale of an inner city girl’s bid to break away from her hellish home life. Lionsgate holds North American rights.

Precious is a remarkable film that sends a powerful message of hope – brilliantly reminding us that we have the power to persevere regardless of life’s difficulties,” PGA awards co-chairs David Friendly and Laurence Mark said. “Stanley Kramer’s legacy is ideally celebrated with the selection of this very worthy film.”
