Alan Cumming is to star asHitler and Timothy Spall as Winston Churchill in Jackboots OnWhitehall, a comedy set during the Second World War, London-basedproduction company Swipe announced today (Dec 7).

Based on the idea that theGermans won the Battle Of Britain but were defeated bythe Scots, the film also includes well-known UK talent RosamundPike, Richard E Grant and Tom Wilkinson. It marks the directorial debut forEdward McHenry, whose script (co-written with his brother Rory) won Swipe'sinaugural Screenplay Scholarship Award. Debbie McWilliams is executive producer.

Swipe's Frank Mannion, who is producing the film, said of the McHenrys' screenplay: "It is one of the funniest scripts Ihave read in a long time with a delightful twist at the end .It's bound toamuse audiences with its revisionist view of history.

"It is a tribute to thescript's originality and to Edward's directorial vision that we have assembledsuch a starry British cast lending us their extraordinary and comedic talents."
