Strand Releasing has picked up US rights from Hanway Films to Terence Davies' Of Time And The City.

The Hurricane Films production premiered at Cannes and receives its North American premiere here on Sunday [Sept 7]. Davies narrates a deeply personal tribute to his home town and uses archival footage and poetry.

Strand co-president Jon Gerrans negotiated the deal with Hanway's Thorsten Schumacher. Liverpool-based Sol Papadopoulos and Roy Boulter produced.

Strand previously distributed Davies' The Neon Bible and handled home video on Trilogy in association with Frameline.

'We're thrilled to be working with Terence again,' Strand co-president Marcus Hu said. 'His love letter to Liverpool is a true artistic inspiration to film-making.'

'Bringing Terence Davies back to his home city of Liverpool and into the limelight once again has been a personal thrill,' Papadopoulos said. 'And to see people touched so profoundly by one man's memories reaching out into the darkness has been quite intoxicating.'
