CHINA BOX OFFICE: Avengers: Age of Ultron replaced Furious 7 at the top of the China box office in its opening week, grossing $154.63m in six days.

The Disney blockbuster pulled in 23.8 million admissions and accounted for around 90% of mainland China’s total box office during the week May 11-17.

Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie, came in second, taking just $3.46m for a cumulative gross of $13.73m after ten days. It was followed by Le Vision Pictures’ You Are My Sunshine, which grossed $2.85m over the week for a cume of $55.31m after 18 days.

Alec Su You-peng’s youth drama The Left Ear took fourth position in the weekly chart, grossing $2.06m for a cume of $76.86m after 24 days.

Nearing the end of its record-breaking run, Universal’s Furious 7 fell to fifth position, pulling in $1.49m over the week for a cume of $390.87m after 36 days.
