Ken Kwapis, riding high on the global success of He’s Just Not That Into You, is in final negotiations to direct Everybody Loves Whales for Warner Bros.

Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin and Michael Sugar are producing the true story of inhabitants in a small Alaskan town who band together to rescue three California gray whales trapped under ice. The incident occurred at Point Barrow in 1988.

Jack Amiel and Michael Begler wrote the screenplay and Warner Bros’ Jon Berg and Jesse Ehrman will oversee for the studio.

Kwapis also directed The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants and License To Wed for Warner Bros.

He is represented by UTA, manager Rick Berg at Code Entertainment, and Craig Jacobson at Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren & Richman.
