The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has posted foreign language film award entry forms to 95 countries in advance of next February's 80th Academy Awards.

Academy rules stipulate that to qualify, a film must be released in the submitting country between Oct 1, 2006 and Sept 30, 2007, and be publicly screened in 35mm or 70mm film or in a qualifying digital cinema format for at least seven consecutive days in a commercial cinema.

The dialogue track must be predominantly in a language or languages other than English. Accurate English subtitles are required.

Entry forms and film prints must be received at the Academy by Oct 1, 2007. Only one entry will be accepted from each country.

The 79th Academy Awards produced a record 61 submissions and the foreign language category was eventually won by Germany's The Lives Of Others.

The 80th Academy Awards are set to take place in Hollywood on Feb 24, 2008.
