Two-time Oscar winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski will receive the AFI’s 2010 Franklin J Schaffner Alumni Medal.
Kaminski will receive the honour in Los Angeles tonight  at the AFI Life Achievement Award honouring Mike Nichols.
The Franklin J Schaffner Alumni Medal is named after the Patton director and recognises “extraordinary creative talents.”
Kaminski is Steven Spielberg’s regular collaborator and won the Academy Awards for Saving Private Ryan and Schindler’s List.
Previous Franklin J Schaffner Alumni Medal recipients include AFI alumni David Lynch, Terrence Malick, Amy Heckerling, Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz.
