Peter Ho-Sun Chan’s American Dreams In China has posted more than 9.7m admissions in China, crossing the equivalent of $82m in the territory.

Producers are Ho-Sun Chan and Jojo Hui Yuet-chun.

The cast includes Huang Xiaoming, Deng Chao and Tong Dawei.

The story is about idealistic friends who start a company teaching English, and become millionaires.

In its opening weekend, the film beat Hollywood projects including Iron Man 3 and The Croods.
