EXCLUSIVE: Beta Cinema has acquired international sales rights to Andreas Dresen’s Love, After All, ahead of its world premiere as a gala title at Zurich Film Festival.
The film is adapted by Dresen and Laila Stieler from Elke Heidenreich and Bernd Schroeder’s novel of the same name.
It follows Lore and Harry, a couple married for 40 years. The trials and tribulations of their relationship have gradually distanced them from one another; as their young granddaughter comes to visit and their grown-up daughter announces her wedding to an older industrialist, Lore and Harry’s stagnant routine is thrown into disarray.
Dagmar Manzel and Joachim Krol lead the cast, alongside Anna von Seld and Liane Dusterhoft. The film is produced by Meike Kordes and Alexandra Kordes for Germany’s Kordes & Kordes Film, in co-production with Andreas Leusink and Dresen for Iskremas Filmproduktion and Schubert International Filmproduktion. It is supported by German funds MBB, MDM, FFA, BKM and DFFF.
Zurich Film Festival runs from September 24-October 4. Pandora Filmverleih will release the film in German cinemas on October 8.
Beta Cinema previously sold Dresen’s From Hilde, With Love, which debuted in Competition at the 2024 Berlinale and won awards including the German Film Award for lead actress for Liv Lisa Fries.
