Hong Kong production house Applause Pictures has added several new projects to its development slate including a sequel to its recent horror film The Eye which grossed a healthy $1.8m (HK$13.8m) at the local box office in May and June.

Thailand's Pang Brothers will again direct and are currently scripting the film with Jo-jo Hui. Production is scheduled to start this year in Thailand with a Thai and Hong Kong cast for release during summer 2003.

Meanwhile, Applause has also lined Hong Kong actress Sandra Ng to star in Tales Of The Golden Chicken, which tells the story of Hong Kong's political and economic past through the eyes of a prostitute. Samson Chui is attached to direct the project which is also scheduled to start shooting this year.

Other projects on Applause's slate include Serial Killer, a black comedy also to be directed by the Pang Brothers, and Aubrey Lam's La Dolce Vita, a drama about an affair between an elderly man and woman who are both married to other people.

Applause's most recent production, horror omnibus Three, will premiere in South Korea on August 7 followed by releases in Thailand and Hong Kong.
