Peter Hedges'comedy-drama Pieces Of April tookhome the Audience Choice Award gold plaque and Nathaniel Kahn's MyArchitect claimed silver at the 39thChicago International Film Festival, which ran from Oct 2-16.

Hedges' acclaimed filmstars Katie Holmes as an independent young woman who reconnects with herdysfunctional family over the traditional American Thanksgiving dinner.Patricia Clarkson, Derek Luke and Oliver Platt also star.

The film also earned specialmention from this year's Fipresci jury for the new directors competition.Hedges' screenplay credits include What's Eating Gilbert Grape and About A Boy.

The documentary MyArchitect chronicles thedirector's attempts to discover more about his late father, thecelebrated architect Louis Kahn.

The film also received the2003 Gold Hugo for best documentary feature.

Rounding out the list of theaudience's top 10 favorite films were: The Triplets Of Belleville, TheBarbarian Invasions, Callas Forever, The Agronomist, The Revolution Will Not BeTelevised, The Station Agent, People Say I'm Crazy and MonsieurIbrahim.
