John Moore and Peter Veverka's Point Road Films has hired Argentinean film-maker Jorge Gaggero to direct the adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winning Richard Ford's coming-of-age novel Wildlife.
Producers Moore and Peter Veverka are aiming for a late summer 2008 shoot in Montana on the $3m tale of a 16-year-old who learns about life by observing his parents' behaviour following the family's move to Great Falls, Montana, in the 1960s.
Scott Barkman and Gaggero adapted the screenplay. Gaggero directed the 2005 Sundance Special Jury Prize winning drama Live-In Maid (Cama Adentro), and most recently directed Vida En Falcon. The producers are currently out to casting.
Moore is represented by CAA and is directing and producing the upcoming vampire tale Virulents for Fox/New Regency, and previously directed The Omen remake in 2006 and Behind Enemy Lines in 2001.
'Jorge is like Milos Forman in the way he can capture the frailties of human nature,' said Veverka, who served as associate producer on The Omen. 'The story has a very European sensibility and is based on a great book that is such a treat to read.'
