Bavaria FilmInternational (BFI) has picked up international distribution rights to Swissdirector Daniel Schmid's latest feature Portoverowhich has just begun shooting on location in Switzerland.

StarringCatherine Walker (Conspiracy of Silence),Eduardo Noriega (Che),Marisa Paredes (AllAbout My Mother), David Warner (Ladies in Lavender) and Stephen Moyer (Deadlines), the script by US author Barry Gifford with Schmid tells the story of a married woman who falls in lovewith a stranger. In order to be able to have an affair, she invents anotheridentity and is finally forced to make a decision for or against her personalreality.

"Portovero is thekind of project we are going to get involved in more often," commented BFIco-managing director Thorsten Ritter. "It isexceptionally well written, features a great cast and has a director andco-author attached that will make it an outstanding film of internationalscope."

Portovero is a Swiss-Spanish--UK co-production between Zurich-basedT&C Film AG (one of the co-producers of Sandra Nettelbeck'sinternational hit Mostly Martha), Spain's FilmanovaInvest, and the UK's Portpic.
