In his new role as the director of the BFI Film Fund, Ben Roberts is to speak at the 2012 Children’s Media Conference, which takes place July 4-6 in Sheffield.

He will join producers and distributors to discuss what can be done to stimulate animation and children’s and family film in the UK.

The conference will be chaired by former BBC head of children’s programmes Anna Home and organised by Kathy Loizou and Greg Childs.

Lane Merrifield, co-founder of Disney’s Club Penguin and executive vice president of Disney Online Studios, will deliver this year’s keynote speech. Other speakers will include Ian Livingstone, president of Eidos Games and Ben Bocquelet, creator of The Amazing World Of Gumball.

There will also be a series of masterclasses and panel sessions.
