Spanish producer Cesar Benitez is developing an ambitious international television series - Dreams - about a music and arts school in the style of popular 1980s US series Fame.

The project is the first from Benitez's start-up firm, also called Dreams, formed several months ago with Alfredo Fraile, a music scout and one-time agent of Julio Iglesias. The weekly series will be co-produced with as-yet-unnamed Latin American television partners and will star both Spanish and Latin American actors. International music personalities will make regular guest appearances.

The company Dreams forms part of Benitez's newly dubbed "Grupo Boca" (Boca Group). The Boca Group also encompasses film and television production outfits BocaBoca, Cristal and BesoBeso, the latter launched in December with 50% partner Felipe Ortiz of Spanish distributor TriPictures. BesoBeso's debut slate of five films, all backed by local broadcaster TeleCinco, includes the Salma Hayek starrer Living It Up (La Gran Vida), shooting in Madrid from January 27.

Benitez and TeleCinco have launched an innovative internet contest seeking story ideas for the script of Fin De Curso, the spin-off film of popular TV teen series Class Is Out (Al Salir De Clase). Visitors to the series' web page, which according to Benitez is attracting thousands of hits a day from across Spain, are invited to submit story ideas.
