Principal photography hasbegun in Tijuana, Mexico, on the new crime thriller Borderland, which is being produced by the team behind CabinFever.

Lions Gate Films isco-producing with Lauren Moews' Tonic Films, Randall Emmett and George Furla'sEmmett/Furla Films, Freedom Films and Elisa Salinas of Tau Productions. LionsGate holds worldwide rights.

Brian Presley stars in thestory, supposedly based on true events, about three young college revellers whostumble across a terrifying ancient cult. Zev Berman will direct from ascreenplay he co-wrote with Eric Poppen.

Rider Strong, JakeMuxworthy, Martha Higareda, Roberto Sosa, Jose Maria Yazpik and Damian Alcazaralso star.

Moews will produce withEmmett, Furla and Salinas. Susan Jackson of Turtles Crossing and M Dal WaltonIII of Emmett/Furla Films serve as executive producers along with Deborah Davis,Keith Previte, Rafael Gutierrez Rodriguez, Jeff Rice and Steve Whitney.

Peter Block, Lions Gatepresident of acquisitions and co-productions, Nicolas Meyer, president of theinternational division, and Jason Constantine, senior vice president of acquisitions,will oversee for Lions Gate.

Tonic Films' Cabin Fever wasproduced by Moews, executive produced by Jackson, and distributed by Lions Gateand went on to gross $34m in worldwide ticket sales.
