Beta Cinema, the feature film division of Beta Film, has picked upinternational rights to Christoph Roth's controversial biopic Baaderwhich won the Alfred Bauer Prize at this year's Berlinale and received a stormyinternational premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in a 15-minute shorter version last month.

"The new version of Baaderis much more straightforward at the beginning than the original version. Itgets rights to the point," said Dirk Schuerhoff, head of Beta Cinema.

Beta Cinema is also to handle international distribution on Chris Kraus directorial debut Scherbentanz which will next appear in the NewDirectors Competition at the forthcoming San Sebastian Film Festival.

Starring Juergen Vogel and Margrit Carstensen, Scherbentanz wonthe Euro20,000 New Talent Screenplay Prize at the beginning of July when thefilm had its world premiere during the Munich Film Festival.
