Berlin market title and bilingual buddy cop movie Bon Cop, Bad Cop was named the recipient of the 2007 Golden Reel Award, a token prize presented annually at the Genie Awards to the top-grossing Canadian film from the previous year.

Nominated in ten categories including Best Picture, the film broke the long-standing Canadian box office record of 1981 teen comedy Porky's, grossing over $10.3m (C$12.2m) in the qualifying period between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2006. Its overall gross was $10.4m; of that, $7.9m was at the Quebec box office.

Directed by Erik Canuel, Bon Cop stars Patrick Huard and Colm Feore and is produced by Kevin Tierney of Park Ex Pictures, all of whom were nominated. Alliance Atlantis Vivafilm is the distributor. The film has sold to 63 territories. According to Seville Pictures, which is handling international sales, more deals are underway at Berlin.

The 27th annual Genie Awards will be presented on February 13 in Toronto.
