The UK, Japan, Brazil and Costa Rica all set new IMAX records

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2 has scored the biggest IMAX opening weekend ever, taking $23.5m on 394 global screens, for a per-screen average of $60,000.

The UK was among a number of territories that set new records for the highest-grossing title of an IMAX digitally re-mastered film. Top IMAX runs include the London BFI, which generated $190,000 in IMAX box office sales

In the US and Canada, IMAX grossed $15.5m on 274 screens over the opening weekend.

As well as the UK, Japan, Brazil and Costa Rica all set new records for the highest-grossing title of an IMAX digitally re-mastered film.

Other highlights include:

-UK box office of $1.1m on 15 screens for a per-screen average of $75,000 

-Russian box office of $621,000 on 16 screens for a per-screen average of $38,800 

-Australian box office of $354,130 on five screens for a per-screen average of $70,800 

-French box office of $243,500 on five screens for a per-screen average of $49,000 

-Netherlands box office of $196,000 on three screens for a per-screen average of $65,300
