Danis Tanovic’s Cirkus Columbia won best picture in the international competition of this year’s Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival (Oct 9-14), while Seren Yuce’s Majority took best film in the national competition.
Majority, about the conflict between a young man from a middle-class family and his authoritarian father, had previously won the Luigi De Laurentis Award for best first film at the Venice film festival earlier this year.
It also won the best director prize for Yuce in Antalya and best actor for Bartu Kucukcaglayan, who split the prize with Toll Booth’s Serkan Ercan. Toll Booth also took prizes for best first film and best cinematography.
