Korean distributor CJ Entertainment has pre-sold the 3D sea creature thriller Sector 7, its projected summer tentpole blockbuster.
From the makers of the blockbuster hit Haeundae, starring Ha Ji-won and Ahn Sung-ki, the film sold all rights to TF1 for France, M Pictures for Thailand, Scorpio East for Singapore and Malaysia.
”Sector 7 is anticipated to mobilize all the VFX and 3D technology that has been gathered up until now in Korea,” says Heejeon Kim, vice president of International Sales & Distribution at CJ Entertainment. “It looks to be a new innovation that combines the production methods of How To Train Your Dragon and Avatar,” says Kim.
“It is highly anticipated for the universal fun and excitement that a classic monster genre film gives as well as the dynamic action and CGI mise-en-scene of a Korean film.”
The film will have 60% live action 3D footage and 40% computer-generated background visual effects.
