Columbia Films Producciones Espanolas, Sony Picture Entertainment's Spanish production unit, has announced its first project to shoot this summer: Tam Tam, a co-production with local outfit Zebra Producciones.

Starring Paz Vega (pictured) (Sex And Lucia) and Santi Millan (Love Can Seriously Damage Your Health), principal photography starts August 4 in Madrid.

Award-winning short film director Juan Calvo (Hotel Oasis) wrote the script and will direct the comedy about an unlikely couple who fake a relationship to win a TV game show prize.

"In addition to Juan Calvo's extraordinary vision and the incredible talent of Paz Vega and Santi Millan, we have managed to bring together a fantastic team of very talented Spanish professionals for our first co-production," said Iona de Macedo, president of the Spanish production arm.

"We are pleased to form part of this first effort by Columbia in Spain," added Natacha Kucic, co-director of Zebra Producciones with Antonio Saura. Among Zebra's recent credits are Carlos Saura's Salome and Antonio Hernandez's multiple Goya Award-winner The City Without Limits.

Gareth Wigan, vice chairman of Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, commented: "The richness of Spanish talent and the repercussion of its cinema around the world is enormous, and we are pleased to be able to participate as an integral part in Spanish production and bring in our experienced distribution and international marketing team."
